SCOTT BLOOMQUIST Won his very first Dirt Track World Championship in a big way Saturday night by beating the pole sitter Brian Birkhofer into the first set of corners at KC Raceway and never let up the entire 100 laps. Along with claiming the 25 th Anniversary DTWC $50 g's, Bloomquist picked up a little bonus of another $15,000 from VERMEER for winning Knoxville Nationals and KC / DTWC (both sponsored events).

Brian Birkhofer makes one final attempt at the money but Bloomquist carried too much momentum out of the corner and never gave Birky another chance. The #15 was amazing to watch all weekend and often brushed the walls "Eldora Style" thru the corners.
BART HARTMAN Saved his best for last and claimed a few extra positions and was a surprise contender toward the end by finishing third, perhaps a few more laps he would have been there. The race definately put a smile on Hartmans face.
Eckert often looked to be the fastest car and challenged up front the entire race but could never make a pass stick eventually finishing fourth, one position ahead of where he started. Still a very good day for the Raye Vest #24. |

GOOD AFTERNOON KC RACEWAY ! KC was jam packed with race fans all week to witness the best Dirt Track World Championship in modern dirt Late Model history, too bad for those who elected to stay home. I have always enjoyed every visit to this Chillicothe speedplant, "Ohios Fastest 3/8ths Mile", and I have to say track owner Jim Neir really stepped up to the plate when the heavy hitters came to play on his turf. Track prep was first rate and everything was done to insure as good a race as possible. A lot has been done to the property such as new grandstands, VIP and press towers, track lighting and especially the enlarged pit area which involved moving massive amounts of Southern Ohio hillside. Despite heavy partying in the parking lots and grandstands, every morning we were greeted by friendly staff and spotless grounds. I could go on but I will end this by commenting on how reasonably priced the weekend was, there was no "Big Event Price Gouging" to be found. $50 bought your way in general admisssion to see no less than 10 Late Model features and a huge grand finale. I will be at the 26th Annual DTWC in 2006, just as important, Thank You KC Raceway and I very look forward to visiting in the spring.
