Stormin’ Norman Aronhault Rolls To “Hillbilly 50” Victory
Norman Aronhault of Warsaw, Ohio worked his way to the point claiming the prestigious $2500 to win, Hillbilly 50 for Steel Block Late Models at Tyler County Speedway. Hard charging from his sixth starting position paid dividends on lap 37 when he passed Hillbilly 50 leader Paul Wilmoth Jr. for the lead as he exited turn 2. Wilmoth Jr. pulled pit side with rear end problems retiring from the event. Aronhault proved to be the class of the field as he held off all challengers the remainder of the 50-lap feature event. Pressuring for the lead was two-time defending Hillbilly 50 Champion Corey Conley. Conley’s bid came up one lap short as his engine expired entering turn one on the final circuit dropping him to a twelfth place finish. Following Aronhault to the checkers was Ron Parish, D. J. Cline , Doug Hall and Rod Phillips to round out the top five. Completing the top ten were Tommy Powell, Steve Weigle, Roy Roush, Scott Irwin, and Steve Wilmoth.
